Depression Doesn't Ride, wants to spread the message of hope and compassion. "Depression Doesn't Ride is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that came out of the loss of my father, Tim Boylan, who died by suicide after a long struggle with addiction and depression. It is my hope to help find new treatments and assistance for all those who suffer and to help families stay together."

Although Shane's Ride usually takes place on the Monday after Father's Day, in June, due to the the social distancing and small group gathering executive orders in New Jersey, we have decided to reschedule this year's ride to
SEPTEMBER 14, 2020.
What the ride means this year:
This year is not like any other year we've lived through. Covid-19 has changed our world. So many have been affected by this pandemic in traumatic ways. Now more then ever there is a need to support groups and organizations that provide mental health services for people who struggle with life's challenges. This is our call to action. This is our time to come together and support those suffering with depression, anxiety, addiction and suicidal thoughts. The fallout from Covid-19 with social distancing, grave illness and personal losses will continue to impact so many in our society, we must prepare for a greater demand on social and emotional supports. Please give whatever you can. Every little bit put together can make a big impact.Thank you for supporting Depression Doesn't Ride, a non profit organization 501(c)(3)
Reaching the community
Each year I participate in events highlighting depression and suicide to help break down the stigma around these issues. I also hold a annual charity bike ride that started with friends and family and has grown to include a larger community of concerned people.
Eliminating shame is one of the most important things we can do to battle the disease of depression because shame kills. So, we show up with our heads held high ready to do our part and support one another. I am hoping for your support. Money raised will go towards depression research and suicide prevention.
ANNUAL BIKE RIDE
Depression Doesn't Ride began with a bike ride and continues to run the event annually to raise awareness and erase stigma connected to depression and suicide. This is a casual 10 mile bike ride along the Raritan river and through Johnson Park in Piscataway, NJ. It is a time and place where people can go to both give and receive peer support.
